This Never Gets Old.

Everything makes me laugh. I don’t know if I’ve mentioned that before, but now you know.
However, not everything makes me nearly pee my pants. This does.

I am guest reviewing on my friend Katrina’s blog, PuglyFeet.com. She is adorable, and it was an awesome experience to review a pair of shoes for her. Now fly, my pretties!
Edit: Leave her lots of comment love, if you would!
… but if you’re interested, the movie my brother did sound for is premiering tonight at 7 pm at Rivergate in Ashland (188 Garfield).
If you can’t make it, catch the trailers here and here.
It looks to be amazing.
It is a meme, which I am doing voluntarily because it looks fun rather than because someone tagged me. Behold:
The Questions (and The Answers):
1. What is your first name? Brooke
2. What is your favorite food? Thai food!
3. What high school did you go to? I was homeschooled.
4. What is your favorite color? Green. Any color of green.
5. Who is your celebrity crush? Jonathan Rhys Myers. His accent slays me… *swoon*
6. Favorite drink? Iced americano with a little cream.
7. Dream vacation? Ireland.
8. Favorite dessert? I like it all, but that picture is strawberry rhubarb pie.
9. What you want to be when you grow up? A mom.
10. What do you love most in life? Jesus.
11. One Word to describe you. Weird.
12. Your flickr name. ohmyseven.
Now go ahead, make one of your own. Here’s how:
a. Type your answer to each of the questions below into Flickr Search.
b. Using only the first page, pick an image I say feel free to use however many pages you like… the first two pages for my name were mostly semi-naked skanky women. Besides, rules were made to be broken.
c. Copy and paste each of the URLs for the images into fd’s mosaic maker.
I need a new job, as I believe I’ve mentioned before. I’m curious, Oh Ye Who Read My Blog, what sort of job I should look for. Do you have any suggestions for me?
In the past I have worked as:
A preschool teacher (loved the kids, but the management was sort of lame)
An intern at my church (not available anymore)
A babysitter (love it, but crappy pay)
A barista/manageer (awesome coffee, and I might see if she’ll rehire me)
A customer service person (I would recommend never working here if you can possibly help it)
Currently I am working as:
A bookkeeper (not something I like well enough to make a career in)
An indie artist (fun, but the pay is crappy at this point)
I have taken some college classes (I’m a three-term sequence of science classes away from an Associate of Arts degree, but I’m not really interested in more school); I’m not a good enough bookkeeper to try and do it for someone else, nor do I like it well enough to learn more of it; I love kids but the thought of lesson plans makes my skin crawl a little bit; I like my Etsy shop but I make like a buck-fifty a month or something ridiculous like that, so it’s not really a viable option at the moment.
I’m leaning toward a coffee shop again, but I’m not looking forward to my hands falling apart again. The excessive hand-washing kills me. And I’ve thought about Starbucks, because of the great benefits, but the thought of only being able to wear black and white, and being required to wear an apron (aprons drive me nuts), and not being able to wear flipflops makes me shudder a little bit inside, so it would probably have to be an indie place.
What do you guys think? From what you’ve read of me in this post (I know I’m the pickiest person on the planet) and elsewhere on my blog and Twitter, what would be a good job for me that wouldn’t suck my soul away?
I feel humbled today. I spend so much time whining about my life, my job, my lack of money, everything… It’s so easy to forget that I am actually really blessed.
Lately I’ve been whining an extra lot about my lack of money. If I were God, I would reach down and flick me on the ear or something and tell me to wake up and stop being a retard, but instead he prompted someone to donate $250 to me, just to bless me. You know that button on the bottom of my page that says “Support my lavish lifestyle”? Someone actually did that. I just put it up there because it was possible, and I thought maybe someday someone would donate three bucks for me to get a coffee or something, but no. Two hundred and fifty-five dollars, just to help me out and bless me.
Like I said, I feel humbled.
I get caught up so easily in my own worries and my own grasping that I forget that God wants me to live with open hands and let him provide for me. I want to do that. I want to reach out my hands and say, “Everything I have is yours. Do with it what you will” and trust him to take care of me. It’s so hard for me to give control of my life up though… I feel like maybe he won’t give me the things that I need or want, like he just wants me to hate my life. Why do I feel that way? I know in my head that he loves me and wants the best for me, but for some reason that twelve inches or whatever it is to my heart is the hardest distance for knowledge to travel.
This was such a great reminder of my Father’s heart and his love for me. I don’t deserve this. I deserve to be slapped in the face and told that I’m being retarded, but instead he gave me more than I would ever imagine.
I hope I remember this the next time I doubt. And someday I want to be open hands to someone in need of encouragement, just as these open hands blessed me.
I’m the bearded lady.

Once a month, Brody hosts Link Loved over at his place. Here’s what he said in the inaugural edition of Link Loved:
Here’s the deal. I say once a month we find out our “Top Five Referrers” for that month, those that showed us the most “link love” and show our appreciation by writing a little something up about their blog encouraging your readers to check them out. It doesn’t have to be anything extensive, but just something reviewing their blog, or maybe how you found their blog, or what you like about it. Make sure it’s actual people though. If Google is sending you more than skip it and go to the next actual person. How’s that sound? Does that make sense? Expressing our gratitude to those that are sending us the most traffic once a month? Then come back here and tell all of us about it. Ready to give it a shot?
I think it’s a cool idea, and since I am still feeling a little uninspired, I figured at least you guys could go check out some people who actually write something. So here are my top referring sites:
1. The Prodigal Jon
Jon writes about Christianity in ways that make sense and are fresh and new. I’m always challenged by the stuff he writes there. Jon has a bunch of other sites beside this one as well, including Stuff Christians Like, a site that pokes fun at the quirks of Christianity; 97 Seconds With God, a short devotional/inspirational thought kind of thing; and Can I Wear Jeans?, a directory of churches attended by people all around the world.
2. Pugly Feet
Katrina writes about all kinds of things. Shoe reviews, pictures of her beautiful house, fashion ideas, bicycles… you name it. She has a great sense of style.
3. Just Finding My Way
Her name’s Brooke, just like me! Brooke writes about lots of stuff too. Family, worship, babysitting, being a Christian, bacon floss, even free samples at Wal*Mart. She’s a great girl with a good sense of humor. And she has curly hair!
4(Tie). After a Cup of Coffee… or Two
Christy always has something funny to say. She’s a mom, so of course there are always funny things her kids do & say, but more than that, she’s just a funny lady. This post, for example, made me nearly choke. Her husband is in the Navy so he’s gone a lot… you should read this story of one time her husband was deployed. Hilarious.
4(Tie). Rachelskirts
Rachel is, according to her bio, “22, pirate, college student, not drunk. Fan of oompa loompas, leprechauns, and hobbits. Chocoholic, perfectionist, procrastinator.” She is one of my interweb heroes… she works at a church, where she teaches people Microsoft Word, ogles Cute Tuesday Boy and attempts to eradicate Comic Sans from every flyer that goes out. Sometimes sweet, sometimes sarcastic, always hilarious.
5. It’s 3 O’Clock in the Morning!
My brother! Michael is the only reason my blog functions the way it’s supposed to. No, seriously. He’s a champ. If you contact him, he might help you too, for a reasonable fee. He recently forgot how to blog, but usually he writes about stuff like facial hair my camera and his own cheesy grins, nerdsauce and rants in which he includes the abbreviation “WTPB?” which I can only assume means, “What the Peanut Butter?” He also writes a guest post series over at Rachelskirts called Late Night Tips.
So go check all these peeps out and show them some love… and feel free to add your link love to Brody’s post.
I don’t have anything new to say right now… I think I’m in a little bit of a slump. But I did find this cool site called Wordle, where you can make word clouds. Here’s mine… it’s words from this blog. It’s sort of like looking at the archives, only simpler and a lot cooler looking.
From time to time, I write about websites that I am paid to talk about. My opinions are always my own, uninfluenced by the sponsor company. I will always share my honest thoughts about anything I write about. The following is a paid post, brought to you by Savings.com.
I was asked to look at a website by the name of Savings.com. This website is a site dedicated to providing savings for people in a number of ways– free shipping, free shipping upgrades, dollar amount and percent-off discounts on merchandise, etc. They do this by taking advantage of the numerous online coupons, promotional codes and free shipping coupons that many retailers provide.
When I first checked out the site, I had to leave immediately, because I was a little overwhelmed by the sheer amount of information. I know that since a website devoted to member- and staff-submitted promo codes is, by its very nature, full of information, there is bound to be a glut of information. It’s like a forum, only with coupons, and I’ve never liked forums. Too many things going on, and it makes me feel crazy.
However, there really are tons of great deals on Savings.com. In just the first page of the “Clothing & Fashion” category, there are coupon codes for 40% off select shirts at Limited Too, $8 flat rate shipping at Nike, and 50% off all clearance items at Hot Topic, along with thousands of other discount codes.
All in all, I think the amount you can save by using their free coupons makes the visual overstimulation worth it. If you have the patience to look around (and a less crazy brain than me), I think you’ll really save a lot at Savings.com.
