Ugh, It’s Been a Hundred Years.

So how was your guys’ holiday season?  Mine was GREAT.  We spent Christmas in Portland at my brother & sister-in-law’s house… it was nice to have our family all together again.  My niece is getting so big… she basically learned how to sit up on her own while we were there (in the FOUR WHOLE DAYS we were there– babies learn stuff crazy fast).  She was sort of doing it on Christmas Day, only really wobbly.  But by Saturday, she was sitting for a long time by herself.   Amazing.  She’s also started laughing super hard at things people do or faces they make, so I got a couple videos of her just cracking up.  Michael would grab her foot and make her kick him in the face and then fall on the floor… she would kind of grin at that, but then he would use his momentum to roll back up and kiss her, and it was making her shriek with laughter.  I’m pretty sure there’s no better sound in the whole world than a baby laugh that hard.

New Year’s was fun too… my roommates and I just sent out a Facebook invite to all of our friends and made it basically just an open house.  So we probably had around 25 or 30 people stop by at various times during the night.  A bunch of them are younger, like from 17-20, and they all left pretty soon after midnight, but a few of the friends closer to my age stayed until almost 4 am.  I was thinking about it, and I’m pretty sure that I haven’t stayed up that late since I wasn’t allowed to stay up that late.  We were just talking and playing cards, and I busted out this hilarious book called “Misery” (part of it is on Flickr here) and the new LOLcats book that I got for Christmas, and finished the night off by watching a first-season episode of 30 Rock.  All in all, a great night.  I slept until 1pm on New Year’s Day and basically did nothing the entire day.

So how about it?  Tell me about your Christmas and New Year’s and all that stuff.  I’d love to hear from you.

Just A Vid.

Pictures, Finally.

I promised y’all some pictures, and now I’m delivering.  Here you be:

Me, brushing my teeth:

Dood, you guys: How cute is my sister?

The decaf espresso container & extra shots at work:

Me, drinking coffee:

I also took a bunch of pictures of the kids I babysit, and they’re super cute!! Here’s my favorite one:

Woop-Doo-Ba-Doop.

Dunno what that title means, but anyway.

This week… has been LONG.  So full and so tiring, and yet not that terrible, surprisingly.

(You guys, I just ate a little chunk of ice cream that fell on the counter and I think it landed in a spaghetti sauce splatter from my roommate’s dinner, because WOOF.  That was gross.)

Some number from this week:

1- times I closed at the coffee shop.
3- days in a row I opened at the coffee shop.
3- days in a row I wanted a nap so badly I could taste it, but had other things that needed to be done.
8 million- times I have sworn to go to bed earlier.
1- nights I’ve gone to bed before 12:30.
Approx. 86- hits on the ol’ snooze button (approximate because I’m still mostly asleep  Hard to count that way).
1- shower taken (I did wash my hair one additional time, but still. (Man, I can’t figure out why I’m still single.))
3- days in a row I wore the same shirt/scarf/hoodie combo.
64- average degrees Fahrenheit in this house.
3- viewings of Juno (Once with the commentary).
2- bowls of ice cream.
5- sorely needed checks deposited.
2- trips to my parents’ house to do bookkeeping.
7- episodes of Arrested Development watched.
1- big crush on Jason Bateman (but not in Juno, because Ick).
2- babies watched.

My roommates brought a tree home for our house when they went with their family (you may remember that my roomies are brother & sister) and we put that up this week as well. I brought about half of my ornaments from my parents house and our little tree is so cute. This is the first time I’ve had a real tree in at least 10 years, probably more. I had forgotten how nice they are! Our whole house smells delicious, and it looks super cute. I need to find some better way to put the furniture, though. It was a little awkward to begin with and now that there’s a tree in here as well, it’s only worse. We’ll make it work though!

I keep promising pictures of my house, but my camera and my camera cord keep not being in the same place at the same time. I planned to bring the cord with me after uploading the video of Micaiah, so I could upload some pics from my roommate’s computer, but now I can’t find it anywhere, and I think I must have left it on my desk at my parents’. Le sigh. Someday.

Chocolate peanut butter ice cream is one of the better things ever invented, along with sleep. And so, having finished my bowl, I bid you goodnight.

Don’t You Just Want To Eat Her?

My brother & his wife, along with my niece, were here for Thanksgiving, and we managed to record this little video one night when Micaiah was a little bit delirious.  She’s too cute…

I meant to grab some pictures off my camera while I was at my parents’, but I totally spaced.  So, pictures of my new hair color coming soon.

I have nothing real to say… And so: Goodnight.

Today Was a Good Day.

Today, I hauled my lazy bum out of bed around 11.

And drank some coffee.

Today, I took a shower.

And styled my newly-colored hair in a pleasing fashion.

Today, I watched like 5 episodes of Arrested Development.

And drank some more coffee.

Today, I put on an outfit that makes me feel cute.

And took the time to put on some eyeshadow, in addition to my usual eyeliner and mascara.

Today, I went to my sister-in-law’s maternal grandparents’ house.

And I ate some a tamale and my mom’s homemade salsa.

Today, I held a tiny baby.

And wished it was mine.

Today, I wrote a blog post.

And now I’m going to watch some more Arrested Development.

Today was a good day.

…Aaand, We’re Back.

Okay, so I haven’t really known where to begin with the whole moving-slash-being-away-from-the-internet thing, so instead of trying to figure out where to start, I’m just going to pretend that it didn’t happen.

Who doesn’t love scarves?  Right?  I am slowly becoming more and more obsessed with them… they add just a dash of something fun to an outfit.  I find myself putting one on every time I leave the house nowadays (does anyone say that anymore?  I am old).  So when I read about a blogger scarf swap at Mandy’s blog, I decided to join in.  Behold…

Do any of you want to do it too? You totally should… I’m going to crochet one, because that’s how I roll. Also I just bought a bunch of yarn, so… that works out. You know you want a scarf that I’ve made… yu know you do.

Oh! Also– have you guys seen the 10 Things I Hate About Commandments parody trailer? It makes me giggle. Also this one:

A Wet Tea Bag Hitting My Upper Lip…

… may just be the grossest thing that’s happened to me all year.

*hurl*
